This problem has spiraled out of control. It's a total catastrophe. We've tried just about everything to fix it, but nothing seems to work. At this point, it feels like we're hopelessly stuck. Honestly, I don't know what else to do. This is a mess of epic proportions.

Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so horrifically bad that you can't help but laugh. It's like your brain tries to understand the sheer level of destruction and just resigns itself to fate, opting for a weak, desperate giggle as a coping defense.
But then, you remember that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain bad. And the laughter you felt morphs into a sigh.

Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?

Dreadful Day Ever
It all started with a case of terrible hair. I couldn't do it to look presentable. As I was running out the door, I fell and gracefully all over my new shoes. To make matters worse, I was totally running behind for a very important appointment.

By the time I got home, I was utterly defeated. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as the worst day ever.

It all started out terribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then it went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of here situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
